Challenge
Remove sludge found in the city’s underground fuel depots to protect emergency vehicle engines (police cars, fire trucks, and maintenance equipment). The fuel depots are underground and made of a fiber glass composite with little to no ferrous metal.
Solution
Clean the fuel tank and install an OEI high flow magnetic filter scrubber inline, prior to the metering pump.
Results
Just 3 days (3,000 gal) after the magnetic filter element had been cleaned, a substantial amount of ferrous metal was extracted. If left in the fluid this sludge will prematurely wear the injector nozzles and the injector pump, decreasing the equipments performance and efficiency.

The challenge was to clean process water in Kazakhstan that is used for citizen’s day-to-day use, including drinking and bathing. Traditional filtration is unable to adequately clean the particulate under 10 microns causing corrosion build up in pipelines and reservoirs. The government’s annual expenditure in operating costs for boiler management is in excess of $100 million USD.

The challengve was to remove sub-micron sized ferrous contamination from the diesel fuel being missed by the traditional paper spin-on filter on the dispensing pump.

Transmasivo, through the use of bio-fuels, was trying to reduce their emissions and wanted a filtration medium that would do the same while working efficiently on their bus line. Traditional filtration is incapable of removing contamination below 10 microns which causes damage to the fuel and oil system components, impedes the burn of the fuel, and increases emissions.

Removing harmful contaminants from fuel helps improve fuel economy and prolong engine life. Many users find it necessary to filter diesel as it becomes contaminated during processing and transportation phases. In Alberta, diesel fuel has an average of 300 PPM of ferrous contamination between 50 microns and 1 micron in size. These hard metal particles (iron & steel) can score fuel injectors and cause injector valves to stick, producing inefficient combustion.
